ESD The Hevday Logic Module is designed as a component to be incorporated into a custom built system. As such it is provided as a bare unpackaged PCB and may be damaged by Electrostatic Discharge. Handle the Logic Module and associated Communications Card in accordance with good ESD handling practices at all times. Supply voltage and current The Logic Module requires a +5 Volts DC supply only. No other voltages. Supply current with a Comms Card fitted is a maximum of 0.5 Amps plus I/O current. The 0.5 Amp level may rise to 0.7Amps during the turn-on transient. Ensure that the supply voltage is within the range 5Volts ± 5% at all times. Voltage on heat sinks The voltage regulators are mounted directly on their heat sinks and are not insulated from them. The heat sinks are at the same potential as the regulator outputs. Do not short-circuit the heat sinks together or to any other electrically conducting item. Be aware that parts of the heat sinks protrude below the bottom of the PCB. Assembly of Communications Card PCBs should always only be inserted with power turned off unless specifically designed for live insertion. Ensure that the power is off before inserting the Communications Card into the sockets on the Logic Module. I/O levels I/O levels suit LVTTL and 3V3 CMOS. For 5Volt-tolerance, see the Xilinx Answers Database entry Are Spartan-IIE I/Os 5V-tolerant? and the quoted Xilinx 5Volt-tolerance documents. Connection of I/O All Logic Module I/O connections are brought directly from the FPGA to the board edge connectors. They are not isolated and have no additional protection other that that offered by the FPGA design itself. Always provide Logic Module I/O connections in accordance with good electronic design practice. Legal Hevday products are not designed for use in life support or other applications where malfunction of the products can reasonably be expected to result in personal injury or significant financial loss. Hevday hardware may be subject to U.S. export jurisdiction. Please see our various legal documents that cover these and other matters.
